blissfully engaged
blissfully engaged: alicia & michael // san francisco engagement session, part II
I left off my last post with part I of Alicia and Michael’s engagement session and we’ll start part II at the Sutro Bath ruins, where Alicia and Michael braved the wind and the San Francisco chill for some snuggly portraits by the ocean.
It might be easy to breeze past the first sentence of this post and miss two huge factors from this day: that it was frustratingly windy and it was colder-than-normal-San Fran-cold. I’ve come to find that you can learn a lot about a relationship when things don’t go exactly as planned.  And what this day helped me learn about Alicia and Michael is that
they’re
so very
good
for each other.
They warm, they soothe, they cherish, they remind, they hearten, taking turns doing so. This was a great help during this shoot and I know will be a great help throughout their upcoming marriage.
With that, I give you part II of Alicia and Michael’s San Francisco engagement session.
Alicia and Michael, thank you so much for having me out to see your lovely new city and make some portraits of the two of you in it! I am so excited for your McKinney Flour Mill wedding this September!
Recently after becoming engaged, Alicia and Michael became transplants from DFW to San Francisco when Alicia got a job working with the start-up company Brit & Co. (ladies, it’s seriously SO COOL and you’ll want to stay on their site forever). We were having trouble scheduling engagements during their limited trips back to DFW between wedding planning, wedding showers and visiting family and friends so I made the casual suggestion of perhaps shooting their engagements out in their new city. To my delight, they were fans of the idea and so I flew out to San Francisco, saw the city for the first time, and documented a bit of this hugely exciting, all new, whirlwind season in Alicia and Michael’s lives. We started the session at their future apartment together and had so much fun exploring their new neighborhood with their precious pup.
Aren’t these two ridiculously adorable together? And y’all, this is just part one of Alicia and Michael’s San Francisco engagement session, so be sure and check back later today for part two!
Happy Monday!
Denton was all over this wedding and I LOVED IT. Starting with a ceremony at the Denton Women’s Club to the outdoor reception at the Red Bud Inn — both supplied with hearty live bluegrass by the Boxcar Bandits — to the stringed lights, craft beer and old family photo albums family and friends danced and reveled in the marriage of Jen and Steve. It was wonderful and celebratory and such a reflection of the love and couple this day was all about.
Also Steve for real shook Jen’s hand before removing her garter and it made my entire day.
Oh these two. I can’t begin to put their preciousness into words, so hopefully these photos can do it some justice.
We met up at Spiral Diner, a favorite of Bita and Jack’s stops when they’re in Dallas, for a milkshake. Then we hit up Bishop Arts District and y’all, Society smells so good I can’t EVEN. I should shoot inside a candle shop every single day of my life, or maybe move my office into one . . . hmm, all good thoughts.
Enjoy a look into Bita and Jack’s Dallas engagement session!
I sure enjoyed my time with these two and I am SO PUMPED for their wedding at the end of this month.
