Meet Laura and Preston.

Laura and I went to the same teeny tiny high school together, and I believe the last time I had seen her in person was at my older sister’s (and Laura’s) high school graduation FIVE YEARS AGO. So it was especially exciting to get to meet up with her and her husband Preston for Christmas card pictures in the big city of Denton . . . although all the pictures are in fields . . . just trust me on this one.

Loooooove it. Love it. Such beautiful people letting me take their photo. Love it.

The conversation directly after I took this picture was as follows:

me – “Preston is making such a stoic face.”

Laura – “He’s going to use that word all the time now.”

It did my heart well to see how much Laura laughed around Preston. I like knowing people are happy.

Here Preston was telling us about the auto-biography he’s got in the works. The photo on the left is the book cover.

And what better place to end?

Laura and Preston, thank you for coming to Denton and being your beautiful selves in front of my camera.

Meet the Aldrich family.

I love a lot of photos that came from this shoot, but I’ve decided that this one (for me) best sums up the Aldrich family. Jennifer and Austin’s love for each other is clearly apparent from just spending a tiny bit of time with them, and Annabelle is just WRAPPED up and held in that love. Watching the three of them interact and adore each other was such a sweet blessing to me.

CUTE BABY TUMMY!! Gosh, and matching boots.

This next picture makes me just giggle or squeal. Every single time I look at it. It alternates.

But let. me. tell. you. One-year-olds have some major mood swings.

Aaaaaaannnnnnd she’s back again!

Jennifer, I think you are absolutely darling.

Again, with the giggles and squeals from my computer.

In the picture on the left, you’ll notice that Austin is saying something. He was in the middle of telling Jennifer how lucky he is to be married to her.

I seriously felt honored to get to witness that sweet moment. Best. Job. Ever.

The juxtaposition of the smiling faces to Annabelle’s bawling is just the very best thing. I love it.

One day Annabelle will know for herself just how much her parents love each other. But for now it would seem that she is completely oblivious.

Sometimes things are so precious that words can’t fully describe it.

Sometimes only a picture will suffice.

Meet Jillian and Jonas. This is their first time on the new blog, but man did they kick off my old one. How do I explain Jill and Jonas? They are the first couple who told me they wanted me to shoot all the photography leading up to and including their wedding — and then they told me they believed in my ability as a photographer, and let me run with that trust. I appreciate these two more than I can express. And now to get to shoot their Christmas card pictures for their first married Christmas is just so special! My camera has been itching to photograph them ever since it snapped the last picture of them waving goodbyes at their wedding reception lo four months ago.

Here are a few of my favorites.

This shot was an accident and I love it. I was trying to coach Jonas into how to hold his hands and he thought he’d be cute and pose like a little girl. Which lead us to all laugh at him. Which led to a wonderfully candid shot.

Hey, y’all have the same last name now. Isn’t that fun? ‘P’ is for PALOMINO!!

Yay for Jill, Jonas and polar bear sweaters.
