Meet Brittany.
Brittany is graduating this spring from Tolar High School — my hometown alma mater!
For her senior pictures we met up in the big city of Fort Worth (it’s especially big when you’re coming from a town of 500, folks) to get some shots around Sundance Square, and here are a few of my favorites.
She’s so cute!
Not only is she cute. But THIS day was her birthday! Senior birthday pictures!!
Brittany also brought along two of her friends, Shayla and Kellen, to the shoot so that they could be sure and make her laugh from behind the camera. They held up their end of the bargain.
In our initial e-mail exchange about her pictures, Brittany admitted that she had a bit of Toms obsession. This is our homage to that obsession.
Girlfran. I love your hair.
I like the genuine candidness of this shot.
Yeah, girl.
And who cares if it was at this ending point at the shoot that we realized Brittany’s purse was no longer in our possession? And who cares that Shayla and Kellen had to sprint down seven flights of stairs (while Brittany and I rode the elevator . . . ) to run to Starbucks and see if it was still there?
We eventually found her purse in an alley, all tucked away behind a door and patiently awaiting our return.
Needless to say, it was an eventful ending to a photo session.
Brittany, I hope these photos forever mark for you a beautiful season in your life! Happy graduation!
***And blog readers, be looking back at the blog within the next few days for an announcement that will make sweeping, delightful changes to Jillian Zamora Photography!!***
Meet Phoebe and Nathan.
I’m doing a super-quick post of Phoebe and Nathan’s engagement session because they’re getting married FRIDAY! Wahoo!
Nathan and Phoebe suggested we meet for the session at a small park in Fort Worth that they frequented while dating.
Everything about this photo is lovely. Phoebe is lovely. The way Nathan is looking at Phoebe is lovely (in the manliest way possible). And to top it all off, the light is lovely too.
Love. those. grins.
I enjoy the feeling of an underlying narrative in the photo above left.
Okay. That’s sweet.
I do not have ANYTHING against Nathan’s face, but I’m pretty sure this is my favorite from the shoot.
And I hope that’s okay.
She’s got that engaged glow.
It might seem random to have a merry-go-round shot mixed in among these forest scenes. I suppose it is.
But, if you’ve ever met Phoebe, you know it fits. She’s excited and candid and colorful and as merry as they come. I mean, she IS a kindergarten teacher.
And Nathan? Well, he’s slightly less outwardly excited and candid than Phoebe, but they’re a package deal.
Phoebe and Nathan, I will see you two on Friday!
Meet the Cervantes family.
Elya informed me of two things from the get-go. She doesn’t like to wear shoes. And she didn’t want these pictures to look like they had been taken in a garden. (Although we really did take them in a garden)
Check and check.
When Gabriel first stepped out of the car my instantaneous thought to myself was, “Oh this kid is cool.” Once we started taking pictures Gabriel kept cracking Elya, Robbie and myself up with his cool faces — you’ll see as we keep going.
Elya, Gabriel and Robbie
This must be Gabriel’s serious face.
Check out that swagger. It’s all in the shoulders and the head tilt.
In addition to being 400% cool, Gabriel also had an awesome attitude about taking photos. You don’t get that with every 9-year-old boy, so I’m giving him props for it.
When it came time for some individual shots, Gabriel was ready with pose after pose. All I had to do was snap.
This is all Gabriel, folks.
Although Gabriel was a tough act to follow, Elya and Robbie did just fine themselves.
Looking good, you two.
Sweet family hug.
For the final portion of the session we did succumb a tiny bit to letting the pictures look more garden-y, but I got Elya’s permission first.
The one above is definitely a favorite.
If every session I shot ended with a head thrown back in laughter — I’d be okay with it.
I had such a fun morning exploring the gardens with you, Cervantes family!
You already know Jacklyn and Matt from their epic pillow fight in the last post. The following day we set out for Sundance Square. Jacklyn and Matt had suggested this location for their engagement pictures not only because it’s where they’ve gone on many dates together, but’s also the place where Matt proposed last Christmas season.
This spot is THE spot where it went down.
I loooooooooove when an engagement shoot location has a special meaning to the couple. Good work, guys.
I can say WITH CONVICTION that I am probably this wall’s biggest fan.
The way you can tell if a jumping photo is really meant to be is if it’s successful on the first shot.
Bingo. This one was meant to exist.
In the picture on the left she has just melted. into his arms. I just figure that’s how it always ought to be.
Can you say “awesome outfit change?” Check. out. those. shoes.
This picture makes me happy.
I really can’t get over those shoes, Jacklyn. Matt’s argyle socks are a nice touch too.
I love the shift in Jacklyn’s face from this photo above to her face of expectation below . . .
. . . Â either she saw this coming or her face begged Matt to make a move . . .
Before heading out we decided to snag some Fort Worth skyline shots.
I’m in love with this next picture on the right.
I cannot stress enough how natural Jacklyn and Matt were in front of the camera — such a pleasant surprise. Let me clarify — I never expect clients to be professional models and to need some encouragement and direction but Jacklyn and Matt just fell into each pose like they do this everyday.
“Oh, what was that, Jillian? You’d like us to kiss a little longer? Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.”
No big deal, I’m just hanging off the side of a building.
And we’ll end with a holly, jolly (but not necessarily flattering) picture of me and my uhhh-mazing clients who rocked it our for the second day in a row.
You should cut me some slack though — I DID just finish hanging off the side of a building.
Matt and Jacklyn, I’m super-pumped for your Fort Worth wedding this August!
