Today is an exciting, exciting Monday for us.

A styled shoot we photographed in Georgia last September has been published in Smitten magazine and we could not be more honored and thankful for the feature.

The shoot came about when we booked a wedding in Georgia and I took that as a sign that I needed to get together with my incredibly talented wedding planning/styling friend, Molly who just so happens to live in Georgia as well. I should probably use the term “facebook acquaintance” instead of “friend” to describe my initial relationship with Molly, as the way I “knew” her was because one of my dear friends did a summer-long mission trip to Chicago and worked with Molly there about five years ago. In Chicago. Read: I had never met Molly in person. But I knew I liked her.  So I shot Molly an e-mail asking if she’d like to work on a shoot together. She said yes and then we hit the ground running. Molly used her design genius to lay the style ground work and gathered most of our talented vendors locally (full list at the bottom of post), but I was so excited to be able to bring in a couple of Texas vendors’ products too —  my friend Chelsey made the bride’s earrings and my friend Yandira made a custom guestbook for us to include in the shoot as well.

It was so much fun to plan this shoot with Molly and hang out together as much as we possibly could while we were in Atlanta. Now I can totally and legitimately call her my friend. I for real adore that girl. It was also such a privilege  to get to work with such a talented group of vendors, and SUCH a sweet model, Tayla. Thank you all for all of the work you put into this shoot!

From Molly: “Jillian and I started planning with one simple concept: birds. We didn’t want representations of birds at our shoot; we felt as though that had been done many times. Instead, we wanted LIVE birds. Needless to say, that idea was a bit too crazy. While brainstorming, I imagined a table runner made entirely of feathers. We fell in love with the idea of a neutral color palette with lots of natural, beautiful textures.  We chose a simple industrial looking venue with amazing windows and white brick walls. It was the perfect blank slate!

After meeting with Stylish Stems, we were even more excited to see that vision come to life. Jacki of Stylish Stems suggested tall manzanita branch centerpieces covered in orchids, with hanging feather orbs.  Stylish Stems added gorgeous ivory florals with amazing texture, floating candles, and a cake table covered entirely in moss.  The cake table was my favorite part. A glass cake stand made the cake look as though it were floating over a bed of moss, orchids, and candlelight.  It was stunning! Kelly at Robintreelane made our feather runner a reality. She admitted, at first, that she thought the idea was crazy, but the end result was so unique! Unlimited Party Rentals provided gorgeous linens, silverware, chargers, and gold chiavari chairs to complete our vision. Buzzy Craftery made invitations and menus that embodied natural glamour with elegant calligraphy, touches of gold, and twine. The handmade guest book was a touch I would absolutely recommend to brides… it was so beautiful.”
