Kylie, you, my dear, are a bride amongst brides.
Honestly, there aren’t words that better describe how greatly I’ve enjoyed working with you in this season of your life, so I’m going to leave it at that.
Stephanie and Chris got married at the Dallas World Aquarium partly because they’re just that cool and partly because Stephanie has a soft spot for animals. I don’t mean “owns-a-pet” soft spot (which she and Chris do), I’m talking an incredibly tender, works at SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) level of soft spot. She’s major leagues. When she and Chris found out the Dallas World Aquarium works to conserve several endangered species, they were sold.
But something that holds more of her heart than animals is Chris himself. On their wedding day she told me there were two things she was most looking forward to about January 4th — the first was getting to marry Chris, and the second was getting to meet one of the aquarium’s resident sloths. But marrying Chris was definitely first, I remember that.

Stephanie and Chris, there is literally no other wedding I would have rather started off my 2014 with. Y’all are awesome and James and I so appreciate the opportunity to be a part of such an epic day.

It was either I finally post these photos today or I resign myself to never posting them at all. Today marks the one year anniversary of the Taylor Lord Unitas workshop I attended last February. It was my first workshop to attend and Taylor’s first workshop to put together. And it was awesome.
Not only did I get to meet the amazingly talented film photographer that is Taylor Lord, but she also so openly explained how she runs her business successfully, efficiently and happily. Learning from her was such an encouragement and she definitely invested herself in helping each of us feel all the more confident in our own individual photographic vision. A HUGE BONUS was getting to meet a slew of new photographer friends. I left this workshop a year ago feeling not so alone in the huge industry that is wedding photography and I can tell you with a year’s worth of hindsight that it’s been such a blessing to have my fellow Unitas as peers, sounding boards and friends.

Amanda and Dustin are so sweet together and their wedding day was a lovely reflection of that truth. Also the day validated that Amanda has impeccable taste in shoes (just you WAIT). One other thing the day proved about them is that they’re dang tough, because it was definitely a windchill of 23 degrees outside when we took this above photo.

The father of the bride’s toast included a blessing that Amanda’s late grandfather had used at her parent’s wedding. Amanda’s grandmother’s reaction to hearing it was by far the most heartfelt reaction I have ever witnessed.
Seriously, best smile award to Amanda’s dad. His face looked like this ALL DAY long and I loved it.
