Cindy and Gerardo got married last March at the beautiful Stonegate Mansion in Fort Worth. It was my first time to shoot at the Stonegate Mansion — such a beautiful venue for such a dear couple.
Seriously, Cindy, you’re a total babe.
And oh-my-goodness, I just loved Gerry’s sweet expectant facial expression in the moments leading up to the first look with his bride on their wedding day. The entire thing was just terribly (andbyterriblyImeanwonderfully) sweet.
Gerardo and Cindy came ready to work the camera, and work it they did. So much fierceness.
After wedding party portraits Gerardo requested a portrait of him and his three brothers, as they are often not all together at the same time. And just as you would expect from your older brother . . .
After their lovely outdoor ceremony under an oak tree, we headed inside for dinner, cake, conversation and such sweet toasts. But of course, who could have anything BUT sweet things to say about those two?
So happy for you, Cindy and Gerardo! I hope all the rest of your days together are as special as this one.
The above photo is a perfect photo to start off Kimberly and Christopher’s blogpost.
Yes. It is a set of bridesmaids’ bouquets made entirely out of dum-dums.
Extraordinary, inventive, and awesome — just like Kimberly and Christopher.
Kimberly and Christopher got married last March at a great venue called Off the Grid in Dallas — it’s basically a photographer’s dream come true.
And if you caught some of the photos from Kimberly’s pinwheel bridal session or, if you’ve been a JZP follower for a LONG time and are familiar with Kimberly and Christopher’s pinwheel engagement session (from a year and a half ago), you’d know to expect pinwheels all over their wedding day too!
Here Christopher is all set up for the first look with his beautiful bride and I especially love these next few images of Kimberly all giddy as she walks down the stares to see Christopher for the first time.
Gosh. I love first looks.
After some time for hugs and smiles and then a few more hugs, we moved into some bride-groom portraits.
I LOVED how Kimberly and Christopher used their engagement photos to make bottle cap magnet favors. And I might still have a couple of them on my refrigerator . . .
Kimberly and Christopher – your wedding was truly one-of-a-kind and James and I are so incredibly lucky to have been able to document the day.
xoxo.
Melanie and Keith got married this past March and it was just an all around lovely day — as is generally the case when two high-school sweethearts get married.
For starters, Melanie got ready for her wedding day in a friend’s house with lots of natural light and a lot of character. I LOVE photographing details and prep shots in places like this.
I thought Melanie’s ode to her soon-to-be last name on the bottom of her shoes was so clever.
It worked best for the layout of Melanie and Keith’s day to do a first look, where we set aside a special time before starting pre-ceremony portraits for Keith and Melanie to see each other and have some private moments (with their photographers of course) together on the wedding day. If you aren’t familiar with a first look, you can read a blog post I wrote about first looks here. And you can also keep going down this post and see what that looked like for Melanie and Keith.
I giggle each and every time I see Keith’s face in this above photo — looks like he was very pleased with his bride’s wedding day look.
After they had time to soak up their first moments together on their wedding day we moved into some bride-groom portrait time with lots and lots of laughs –which just so happens to be my favorite kind of bride-groom portraits.
After bride-groom portraits the wedding party met up with us at the gardens for their photos as well.
The girls went from working it in one photo to embodying their “spirit animal” of choice in the next photo. I can honestly say this has been my one and only “spirit animal” bridesmaid’s photo . . . although I did have a group in September request to be cats in a photo . . . I’m up for whatever best shows the personalities of the group!
After the beautiful wedding ceremony at The Village Church in Denton, we all headed to TWU’s Hubbard Hall for the reception.
Melanie’s a huge squirrel fan, hence the candied nuts for the wedding favors and the furry bride and groom cake toppers.
Melanie and Keith have known each other since elementary school and had a yearbook page framed for display at the reception — SO CUTE! I seem to remember audibly “awwwwww”ing when I first saw it.
“I whip my hair back and forth . . .”
Wonderful day. Wonderful couple. Just wonderful.
I’m truly not sure where the inspiration came from to do Cortney and Tony’s maternity session around a clothesline. Typically I’ll brainstorm with my clients for the inspiration behind a shoot, as this is a very important part of the process to make sure the session is a true reflection of the people in the photos. However, Cortney emailed me and said she had no ideas and did I have anything in mind.
And for some reason a clothesline came to mind. Maybe because I associate babies with lots of blankets? With fresh clean laundry (I know mother’s everywhere might be rolling their eyes at that one)? I don’t know. But I DO know I saw a clothesline in my mind. I pitched the idea to her and she was sold, so clothesline it was.
It seriously could NOT have been a better day for this specific session because the wind kept the blankets and sheets on the clothesline moving constantly which made for such fluid images.
I also need to be sure to write a shout-out for my Aunt Lisa for letting us do the photo session in her backyard . . . and at the last minute lending us a couple extra blankets to fill the line! You’re the best!
I just love when I get the chance to work within a little theme for a session because it makes for inspired photographs!
Cortney and Tony’s newborn/family session will surely be on the blog before we know it!
