Let’s start June off with Erin, Wes and Will’s engagement/family photo session at Big Rocks in Glen Rose. The light was perfect, the water was fine, and the sweet love between this family was palpable.
Ah, Meghan and Matt’s wedding was my first of SIX weddings this past June. Yah. June was an intense month for me. My most favorite part of this day, hands down, was watching how tenderly Matt acted toward his beauty of a bride.
These two photos are from a moment before the ceremony where Meghan and Matt wanted to have an opportunity to pray together without Matt seeing Meghan until the actual ceremony. Hence the blindfold.
You guys, I just really treasure getting to document sweet moments such as these.
Mandie and Eric are SUCH sweethearts and were wed at the quaint little chapel in Arlington with lots of old fixtures and original stained glass windows. So happy for you two!
Brittany wanted her bridals to be an ode both to her home church (as they would be getting married at her now husband’s larger home church) and her wedding reception location. I’m so pleased with the way these turned out.
Now it’s giggly Sarah’s turn! She and Jeremy got married this June at Ashton Gardens.
I looooooooooved how expressive their first look was — in true Sarah form.
This was my third session with the McDorman family! It’s always such a pleasure when clients have me photograph their life in different seasons and I have the honor of watching their family grow.
This wedding was unlike any other wedding I have EVER photographed. Gaba, the groom, is Indian and they wanted to represent that heritage in their wedding day through saris for the bridesmaids, henna for the bride and a pretty intense dance party of a reception. It was all just so fun to get to document!
There’s just a bit more from June coming and then before we know it July will hit the blog! We’re making strides in getting the blog up to date, people! So exciting!
You guys, this was a beauty of a wedding.
We can start by talking about how Kalli’s parent’s built her reception barn for the wedding? Yeah, that’s going to be hard to top.
We should also probably go ga-ga over the chandeliers filling the barn that Kalli and her mom found at an estate sale.
And because everyone is already thinking it — Kalli and George are both pretty much ridiculously good-looking too.
But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how absolutely beautiful it was to witness the sweet bond that these two so obviously shared. Each and every look they gave each other throughout the wedding day spelled out “l-o-v-e” loud and clear.
Yes, this was a beauty of a wedding.
Something that struck me about Kalli throughout the course of this day was how completely present she was for every moment. On this day she wasn’t about to let her mind worry about any centerpiece, any apprehensions about time or guests finding the wedding location — all of these things had been taken care of long before she woke up that morning.
I was so pleased to be able to see her soak up every single detail in every single moment. No worries, no nerves. Just excitement and bliss the entire day.
I wish that all brides would allow themselves to be this present on their wedding days.
This car played a huge role in Kalli and George’s wedding ceremony. While guests gathered at the ceremony site a short walk from the barn, Kalli and her dad waited inside in this classic car waiting anxiously to surprise everyone with a grand entrance.
Once the lookouts saw the guests rise and start to look around for the bride, they pulled back the doors and out rode Kalli and her dad.
This is the greatest live band I’ve ever head play at a wedding. Hands down. Please, please, please, check out Identity Theft (based out of Dallas) and hire them to play at your wedding because it was such a fun party full of non-stop dancing with them at the reception helm. Also, I’m pretty much convinced they can sing today’s hits better than the original artists soooooo . . .
It was such an honor for James and I to be the photographers at your beyond beautiful wedding day, Kalli and George. We wish you two all of life’s best.
Carri and Matt wed on a cloudy day last May at the gorgeous Rancho Sereno . Carri spent two years pouring herself into the details for this wedding and boy did it show.
Yes, this outdoor wedding was a long time coming and some rain here and there wasn’t going to be enough to stop this day’s festivities.
All of the florals, by Amanda of Nest Floral Studio, were to DIE for. I mean, I drooled over this gorgeous bridal bouquet. And just wait until you see the rest of the flowers used throughout the day!
Brace yourselves. Here comes the details .  . .
The multi-colored fabric napkins? Carri made them. She made the table numbers too. Oh, and those candles on each table? Carri poured the wax and decorated the holder.
She had her little bridal hands all over every single gorgeous detail from this wedding day.
Carri is a photographer too, so it was no question at all in her mind whether or not she and Matt would do a first look when the time came and I could not be happier with the resulting images.
Squeal! Matt made THE most adorable face with the first sight of his bride on their wedding day.
Carri and I had been texting back and forth the entire week before her wedding talking about whether or not it was going to rain. Finally Carri made the call to leave the wedding outdoors as planned, as the alternative would have been to move venues altogether because there was no indoor option at Rancho Sereno to house all the wedding guests. As much pain/strife/turmoil as the weather caused you, Carri, I have to say — working with those clouds was some kind of awesome.
Another show-stopping detail was the dessert table. Perhaps I should also mention that Carri baked everything on this table with the exception of the wedding cake? She is seriously some kind of dedicated super-bride!
The programs? Yeah, Carri made those.
In the minutes before the ceremony the clouds really came out to play. But there was not turning back now — this ceremony was going to happen.
As you can see in the next few photos, it did begin to drizzle a bit during the vows but thankfully it was nothing the bride, groom, guests or our equipment couldn’t handle.
All drizzle subsided by the beginning of the reception, and it was time for further celebration of the newlyweds.
Carri and Matt’s musicians surprised them during the reception by playing the song that was originally supposed to be played during the ceremony but was skipped due to the drizzle. It was such a sweet moment.
Carri and Matt, I hope you know that working with you two was seriously a dream for me and James.
Thank you for believing so ardently in our photography, for allowing us to document such a special (and BEAUTIFUL) day in your lives, and also for being just plain wonderful the whole way through.
I wish I had better words to describe Kari and Jim.
They’re just the type of people who are so kind, so sweet, and so perfect together than any adjective I try to conjure up to describe them just seems to fall short.
Here are some of their photos from their wedding day this past May. I started the day off documenting the details Kari worked so hard to bring together for her reception.
After shooting details, I met up with Kari and her bridesmaids to document their frenzied prepping.
I believe this wedding day held more hugs and more happy tears than just about any other wedding day I’ve photographed.
That.
That right there is why it’s impossible to find words to adequately describe Kari. Just LOOK at how absolutely darling she is and then try to imagine that her personality is equally as darling and then multiply it by 23 . . . and then you’ve just about figured how wonderful she is.
Each bridesmaid had a braid worked into their hairstyle in one way or another — I thought that was just SUCH a fun detail.
I’m honestly surprised I could snap any photos of the beautiful bride without her going into a giddy giggle fit (which, don’t get me wrong, I ALSO love photographing), but I thought these next two turned out pretty nicely and showcased her custom racer-back dress.
And then there’s Jim. There is something to be said that the ONLY things I have ever heard about him from ANYONE have all had to do with what a truly good guy he is.
Before the ceremony Kari’s girls bathed her both in prayers and happyhappyhappy tears.
It felt like the theme of the entire day was “God is good.”
I couldn’t agree more.
Following the ceremony we took time for family portraits, wedding party group shots and, OF COURSE, some portraits of the newlyweds.
After portraits we all headed over to the reception barn where a sweet (giggly) first dance took place, followed by more dances with the father of the bride and mother of the groom, which, as you can see, were also filled with more delighted laughter.
It was evident on every single person’s face at that reception just how genuinely happy they were for these two to become husband and wife.
Kari and Jim, I, along with every single other person who knows you two, am SO GLAD y’all are married. I praise the Lord for giving you to each other.
Congratulations and my very best wishes to you both.
